First, configure your layers settings to your needs.
For example: Layer States and Details Before you begin drafting a detail, you may want to apply a saved Layer State to that detail so it meets your layer standards.
Just use Save Layer State to create any Layer States you need to use when creating details, and Load Layer State to apply a saved Layer State to a detail drawing before you begin drafting.
By Bill Fane, David Byrnes After you create layers and draw objects on them in Auto CAD 2014, you can turn a layer off or on to hide or show the objects on that layer.
In the Layer Properties Manager palette, the first three icons to the right of the layer name control Auto CAD’s layer visibility modes: You can rearrange the column order within the Layer Properties Manager by simply dragging and dropping the column label to a new place.
Normally, it’s faster and easier to turn layers off and on, freeze and thaw them, and lock and unlock them by clicking the appropriate icons in the Layer drop-down list on the Ribbon instead of using the Layer Properties Manager Palette.
