The following night on Smack Down Live, after Wyatt successfully defended the WWE Championship in a triple threat match involving John Cena and AJ Styles (despite a pre-match attack by Harper), Orton came to the ring, pledging allegiance to Wyatt and refusing to face him at Wrestle Mania 33.
However, the match was changed into a non-title match, in which he was successful after being helped by Jinder Mahal.
Upon moving to Raw, Wyatt debuted on the May 1 episode of Raw and told general manager Kurt Angle not to interfere with his work.
After returning to WWE's developmental territories in mid-2011, Rotunda was rebranded as Bray Wyatt, the villainous cult leader of the eponymous faction The Wyatt Family, with the group eventually making its main roster debut in 2013.
Wyatt won his first championship on the main roster in December 2016 by winning the Smack Down Tag Team Championship with Randy Orton, and they defended the championship with fellow Wyatt Family member Luke Harper under the Freebird Rule.
